WE IS GREATER THAN ME
It has taken me years and years to embrace the concept of “stronger together”, but I am finally at a place where I can grasp the concept in which life is so much more enjoyable when I am surrounded by like-minded people with a common purpose. In a leadership role, a servant leader puts others first. If you haven’t read the book by Simon Sinek, Leaders Eat Last, I highly recommend it. Sinek so beautifully tells of military leaders who put every cadet and new recruit before themselves at mealtime. It is astounding to me how so many people will say they serve others, but when push comes to shove, they want to advance themselves first. When we truly have a servants heart, we can claim true servant leadership.
When the focus continues to be myself, the traditional leadership model will be front and center in the arena. Top-down approach doesn’t work anymore, it’s outdated, and there have been too many epic servant leaders who have broken the mold and shown how corporations can thrive when we is put before me.
In this holiday season, it is so easy to become obsessed with gluttony, selfishness, and deficiency. I’m here to just remind you of how wonderful this season can be when you flip that “M” over to a “W”. I promise you- you will see a huge difference in your life when you start to put others first.
Is it hard to be self-less? Oh, absolutely it is one of the most difficult things in our culture to place someone else’s needs above our own. Hear me out, when we understand community and success with all is the most important, everything changes. You will be shocked at how your life will change, as well as your perception when you begin to embrace others, their needs, their fears, their successes.
