FEAR
Fear. It is the word I keep wrestling with in my own mind. I have no idea why my brain waited until I was in my 30’s to bring in fear and let it be a focal point. Fear is a funny thing isn’t it? We are born in fear, as a safety net. Our human instinct drives us to fear to keep us out of immanent danger. The funny part of fear though is that instead of keeping us safe, a lot of times, it hinders us from our own life’s purpose.
Have you ever thought to yourself, “I know I’m supposed to be doing ______, but I’m comfortable here. I feel safe here.” BINGO- the hindrance of fear. You feel safe, you feel comfortable, point blank- you are fearful of stepping up and stepping out of your comfort zone.
I’m not going to sit here as I type and try to convince you I am in some perfect little universe where I just put myself out there all the time and hope for the best. As a woman, I am always fearful I will never be enough. However, I have also come to the conclusion in my own mind that I am not made for everyone. Everyone who sees my worth and embraces my quirky, spontaneous self accepts me just the way I am. The people who I surround myself with are the most gracious people I know. They show me grace upon grace. I am not even close to perfect, but those people who believe in me, give me honest feedback, and cheer with me along the way sure make me feel like I’m on top of the world.
I digress…
Fear isn’t something we should let rule our lives. We cannot constantly put our zest for life and our creativity on hold just because we are scared of the “what if”.
So, today, I encourage you to be COURAGEOUS! Take the flying leap into the adventure that awaits in the unknown.
Even if it is one small step, take it. Let the words ring out, “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” You have no clue what gift you’re holding the world from by not creating the life you were made to live. If you are feeling scared- then step out in faith. Small steps will lead you on the right path my friends.
Life is short. We are all on this journey together. We are all just walking each other home.
Be fearless, love big, and live the life you were created to lead in.
